ANZAC DAY.

ANZAC Day 2011

We formed up adjacent to the Athaneum Theatre at 1100 hrs.

The sun shone brightly as we waited for the ok to go, patiently waiting beside several light horse personnel.

The black berets were everywhere (perhaps a sign of protest) with gents from most armoured regiments represented.

I formed up along with others from the association and before we new it we were off.

The pace was brisk & the crowds several persons deep. Onlookers applauded as men went by & showed great respect indeed.

Naturally the march ended at the shrine with the dignitaries assembled to watch us pass by.

After the march several members went to the Cricket Club Hotel, Clarendon Street, South Melbourne.

2010 report:

The march went off well and we thought it was over, however we did not realise until
we walked towards Flinders St station that there had been a terrible accident and the
final (Ceylon) men of the march had been hit by an out of control military truck.
Many were in tears & shock having witnessed the incident. Hopefully the men will make
a full recovery. (link to news on this accident) (see final 2 images)
