My name is Dan Exeter and I recently joined the RAACA Victoria (and indeed, I am mentioned as such as the bottom of the front page of the latest issue of Track!)My operational service was in Southern Afghanistan with the Household Cavalry Regiment (HCR) of the British Army from Oct 2007 to Apr 2008.Since that time I have moved here to Australia while my comrades went straight into predeployment training. They have returned to Southern Afghanistan in the last month or so and are currently on active duty. The British Army provides a free email program which allows people to write to soldiers on operations. I wondered if you knew if there were any other members of the RAACA Victorian branch who had links with HCR or the HCR's progenitor regiments, the Life Guards and the Blues and Royals, who may wish to write to current HCR members while they are on Ops. I emphasise again that no payment is required to use this service, and indeed if anyone does have money spare then care packages for currently deployed RAAC members should take priority in the first instance. What I would like to ask, therefore, is if you would consider passing on my contact details to any RAACA members who have links to the Household Cavalry who might be interested in writing to some of the soldiers for the duration of their tour. I could then provide some addresses for them to write to.If you are able to consider my request I would be very grateful. If you prefer to speak to me direct, I can be contacted at dcexeter@yahoo.co.uk .kind regardsDan Exeterex Tpr, W Sqn RY, served with C Sqn HCR on Op Herrick 7
